It would help if you were careful with what you eat and drink throughout your All-On-4 recovery period since you do not want to do anything that could prevent healing.
After Surgery, 1-2 Weeks: Liquid Diet
For 1-2 weeks, you will need to follow a liquid diet; however, avoid drinking water, yogurt, or smoothies with a straw. Healing in the surgical areas may be slowed down by the suction.
Immediately after surgery, you should drink liquids, but only those that are cold for 48 hours. To avoid burning numb tissues, you should always check the temperature of the food and beverages you consume.
For at least 3–4 days after surgery, your implant dentist will advise against consuming anything spicy. Even though your mouth will hurt, eating well and remaining hydrated are important to hasten your recovery.
After Surgery Soft Foods
In a few weeks, the surface of your mouth will be healed, and you will feel like yourself again. However, your recovery is not yet complete for the long-term success of your new smile, a procedure known as osseointegration—where your jaw fuses to the implant posts—remains to be completed.
The healing process can be impacted by the meals you consume. You do not want to extend the time it takes for osseointegration because this could slow your recovery.
Although your mouth will not hurt anymore, avoid crunchy, chewy, or hard meals. Choosing those requiring less chewing is preferable to prevent strain on the healing bone.
You will require follow-up appointments with your dentist as you heal. After monitoring your healing progress, they will let you know when you are ready to eat that delicious steak you have been craving. Remember to chop it into small pieces to make it simpler to eat.
Giving up your favorite foods for a few weeks could be difficult, but it will be worthwhile in the long run. You may quickly take advantage of everything you have missed and much more. Contact our office to set up your appointment if All-On-4 dental implants are something you are interested in.
